Font appears pixelated in Firefox
@BPerzanowski You told me earlier on Twitter:
"Started using Firefox 24 hrs ago. Pixelated font. Hurts my eyes. How do I fix? Change settings? Serious strain on eyes."

->"Maybe you have a weird default font. Go to Preferences: Content : Font & Colors and try changing the font or the advanced font settings.

-> Tools --> Optns --> Contnt --> Fonts-Advanced: Proportional: Serif Size 16; Serif: Times Roman; Sans Serif: Arial; Monospace; Arial

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seems OK to me, so it's not the font-settings in Firefox. After some researching what else could cause this I finally found a solution:

This is probably caused as you have a high-resolution monitor but Firefox is using a low resolution font, maybe because you had a low-resolution monitor earlier. In Internet Explorer this doesn't show up as obvious as in Firefox.

To solve this you will have to turn the ClearType setting on. If you have Windows XP installed do the following (vista should be similiar):

go to "Start", then left-click on "Control Panel".

If "Pick a Category" appears, left-click on "Appearance and Themes" (If not you have turned the category view of. You can either find it without a category or turn category view on)

then left-click on "Display".

or If a box labeled "Control Panel" with a long list of items appears, you have turned off the category view. You can either find "Dsiplay" in the long list or turn category view on

The Display Properties dialog will then open. You click on the tab labeled "Appearance" at the top right of the dialog box.
Then Click on the button labeled "Effects..." at the bottom right of the dialog box.
A new dialog box will now open.
Click the box in front of "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts:"
A black check mark should appear in the box. If the check mark is gray and the box is shaded, keep clicking on it until a non-faded check marks appears.
Now select "ClearType" in the drop down list box on the next line down.
Then Confirm (OK)
Click the "Apply" button at the bottom of the remaining dialog box.
Then Confirm (OK)

Now you can close the control panel window and your font should look better. If you have very old hardware it might slightly effect your memory, but really slightly.

I hope I could help you, @BPerzanowski. Maybe you consider registering at our Forum?
